North Devon Against Domestic Abuse (NDADA) runs the only communal refuge in Devon for women and children who are escaping domestic abuse. The families who arrive with us are vulnerable and traumatised and we hope that by staying with us they can begin to recover and aspire to creating safer, healthier, happier lives for themselves and their children. To help us do this we are looking for women to cover the following shifts in our refuge in order to provide practical & emotional support over longer hours. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to work alongside our experienced and inspirational refuge team, gaining training and knowledge from qualified domestic abuse practitioners.
Experience of supporting vulnerable people and lone working is required. Those recruited will need to be flexible in order to cover for sickness and holiday absences. An enhanced DBS check will be required, and these roles are for women only as Schedule 9 (1a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to these positions. There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holders to be female.
